Quad City Leadership Academy visits Exelon Nuclear
DAVENPORT, Iowa (April 1, 2011) Participants in Integrity Integrated’s leadership development program, the Quad City Leadership Academy, recently visited Exelon Nuclear’s offsite training facility to learn more about nuclear energy.
Bill Stoermer, Government Affairs & Communications Manager, met with the group to discuss the local and global impact of nuclear energy. His presentation included information on power generation and consumption, the types of challenges faced by leaders in the nuclear industry, and Exelon’s community involvement.
“We are honored to have the Leadership Academy visit our facility,” Stoermer said. “It is very important that we educate local residents and business leaders on the many benefits of nuclear energy and showcase the safe manner in which we produce electricity at the Quad Cities plant.”
While answering questions about the recent Japanese nuclear plant incident, Stoermer gave an in-depth overview of the Cordova, IL plant’s design, how the plant operates, security and numerous safety features. The group also participated in the demonstration
of a nuclear reactor shutdown during a tour of the Quad Cities plant control room simulator.
The Quad City Leadership Academy’s mission is to create, build and connect local leaders in order to provide them with the tools necessary to create positive change in our community. Each meeting is held at a different Quad City location to give participants the opportunity to learn more about local businesses.
